Who deserves worship ? Creator OR Creation ?
God is the Creator of the universe and since He is someone who created it, He is above the universe i.e. He himself is not the part of the Universe. In other words the premise that people worship the creation because God is in the creation is a logical fallacy because Creator cannot be equal to Creation. If you argue He is present in the Creation then one may ask, "Is He present in filthy places on earth too? Is he in toilet ? With that logic, Can we start worshiping toilet?"
Thus we conclude that God is not a part of Creation, He is the Creator and has power over all things.
Now one might argue, "But don't you know that God is Omni-Present ?"
So, I respond, "What do you mean by Omni Presence? Does that mean God physically being present everywhere, if yes then you have the same problem again of God being at filthy places".
Look around yourself, people have gone far in the way of "Creation Worship". People are worshiping Natural Objects as Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air), Rohita (Sun) and so on. The very first mantra of Rig Veda teaches the worship of Creation (plus Polytheism), Let's Have a look:
अग्निमीळे पुरोहितं यज्ञस्य देवं रत्वीजम | होतारं रत्नधातमम ||
"I Laud Agni, the great high priest, god, minister of sacrifice, the herald, lavishest of wealth."
[Rigveda Mandal 1: Sookt 1: Mantra 1]
Further Hinduism also teaches Pantheism (the idea that that everything is God, and God is everything). Cow worship is also central to Hinduism. Its the extreme how low can people go in worship of creation that they take God to such a lowly position worshiping even genitals in the form of Shiva Lingam and Yoni .
Bible does not teach the worship of creation but christians are indulged in worshiping the creation in the form of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him).
Looking at other religions like Buddhism we find "Human Worship" and "Fire Worship" in case of Zoroastrianism. Deviant Sufism and Barelvism also has creation worship in form human and saint ( peer ) worship making big mazaars at graves.
Ask yourself this question, Is it reasonable to worship creation or the One who created everything? Will you worship and thank the blessing or Blesser? If I gave you something you were in need of, will you thank that thing or thank me for giving you that thing ?
Islam's fundamental and most important teaching is to worship the One God , the Creator of everything without any mediator/idol or any created thing. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said :
"Behold ! We are sent a people to take people away from the worship of created things to the worship of the Creator of all things".
God says in the Noble Qur'an:
"And of His signs are the night and day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostate to Allah , who created them, if it should be Him that you worship."
[al-Qur'an 41:37]
Worshiping the creation (Polytheism/Pantheism) is the gravest sin in Islam. God can forgive any sin if He wills but the sin of creation worship (polytheism) He will never forgive:
"Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin."
[al-Qur'an 4:48]
So just reflect upon yourself, What are you yourself worshiping? Creator or Creation ? And where are you heading your life to, Hellfire or Paradise ?
